Hello again and welcome back to the Barrel. We've got some good news for you this time around, so dim the lights, hoist a tankard, and read on!

The Last House on Dead End Street!
After what seems like forever and a day, the two disc set of Roger Watkins’ infamous sleaze-classic Last House on Dead End Street is finally ready to hatch! The check discs checked out just fine and the final run has commenced. We expect the fully packaged DVDs to ship from the replicator by the first week of October and should definitely be in your sweaty hands by the October 22nd street date. We’re extremely happy with the way things turned out. Two discs, loaded down with more extras than you can shake a layer change at. You can check out some early reviews at:

Terry Hawkins Invades Ohio!
Yes, it’s true! Elusive director Roger Watkins (Last House on Dead End Street) will be making a special guest appearance at the Cinema Wasteland Movie and Memorabilia Expo in Cleveland, Ohio on October 4 - 6! Roger will be there to mingle, answer questions, and chase you around with an 8mm camera! Those attending the Expo should not only have a chance to pick up an early copy of the Last House DVD, but also have it signed by Terry Hawkins himself! Visit www.cinemawasteland.com/show.html for more information, and tell them Barrel sent you!

Roger Watkins Interview!
We’ve added Art Ettinger’s lengthy interview with Roger Watkins to our interviews page. Thanks to Art and Scott Gabbey at Ultra Violent magazine for their kind permission. While you’re at it, give UV a visit at www.uvmagazine.com! In addition to the Watkins interview, their special double issue #4 contains an exclusive interview with German director Olaf Ittenbach (Premutos), chats with Jean Rollin and Jack Ketchum, and much more!

Headpress 23: Funhouse!
As if that wasn’t enough, the Funhouse edition of David Kerekes' essential Headpress has finally hit the streets. Brace yourself for over 80 pages (interviews, criticism, reviews) devoted to all things Last House on Dead End Street. This bumper edition of Headpress (192 pages!) also includes Barrel’s own John Szpunar and Brian Krueger reporting from the CineMuerte film festival. Visit www.headpress.com for all the details.

Red Alert!
The 15th anniversary issue of Barrel associate Chas. Balun’s legendary Deep Red will be hitting the streets this fall. It features a set report from House of the 1000 Corpses, criticism on Argento’s Sleepless, a tour of filming locations for The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and all of the grosseries that you’ve come to expect! Find out more at www.blackestheart.com.

Sex! Murder! Art!
Just a reminder to everyone out there that Jörg Buttgereit’s Nekromantik 2 is coming soon – Spirit DataCine transfer, audio commentary, short films, separate CD featuring the Nekromantik and Nekromantik 2 soundtracks, and more! The disc is currently in the authoring stage and we hope to announce the final details soon. Nekromantik and Schramm are selling fast, so pick them up while you can. And contrary to rumors we've been hearing from video stores, the Nekromantik DVD is NOT sold out! Tell your distributors we said so, dammit! Unfortunately, the signed and numbered edition of Nekromantik has now completely sold out. But not to fear – more Buttgereit news is coming soon, so keep a (pig’s) eye peeled at the Barrel.

Today LHODES, Tomorrow…
We’ve got a lot of other projects in the works – however, we can’t let anything slip just now. Come back soon for more news and insanity.

Until then,
Brian Krueger/John Szpunar
